The
Colloquium
An intensive six-day course for senior-level leaders to fundamentally transform their leadership.
This intensive, six-day ethics program is tailored for senior-level leaders looking to hone their critical thinking skills and deeply interrogate their own ethical framework, building a solid moral scaffolding to guide their future leadership.
Overview
This intensive ethics program is tailored for senior-level leaders looking to hone their critical thinking skills and deeply interrogate their own ethical framework, building a solid moral scaffolding to guide their future leadership.
Drawing on more than 2000 years of philosophy, spanning both ancient and contemporary critical thinkers, participants take part in rigorous discussions that examine the very essence of what it means to act ethically in their lives and work. By investigating the morality of the crucial judgements they face, they’ll equip themselves for better, more considered ethical decision-making – and will likely leave with their approach to leadership fundamentally transformed.
Colloquium courses are delivered across the year in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
Scholarship places are available specifically for leaders from the not-for-profit, arts and culture, start-up and community sectors.
There are three versions of this flagship program designed specifically for the Australian Public Service at all levels – state, federal and local. They are offered online and in person to allow emerging and senior government professionals from around the country to come together to explore ethical leadership practices within the public sector ecosystem.
Participants join our extensive network of Cranlana Alumni, gaining access to a range of exclusive events where they can deepen their connection with some of Australia’s most extraordinary leaders.

Course Structure
In Person
Each six-day in-person Colloquium is capped at just 20 participants, allowing participants to rigorously explore issues in a close-knit environment.
Participants are given a reading pack ahead of the course, spanning over two millennia of philosophy from ancient to contemporary thinkers – material that is used to fuel discussion and debate during the program.
Aside from a dinner to welcome participants, and selected guest speakers to introduce topics and discussion points, the main program consists of discussion sessions, where an open dialogue is encouraged, curated by two expert moderators who guide and challenge the participants.
Online
The online Public Sector Leaders Colloquium is 24 x 60 minute online sessions over 6 days. Sessions are immersive, live conversations with two expert moderators, capped at 20 participants.
To help participants discuss matters more freely, the Chatham House Rule is adopted for both iterations of the Colloquium – a mutual agreement that everyone is free to express themselves within the course, without later having those opinions attributed to them or their organisations.
