Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership is closely monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and its implications. We know that at the moment your families and additional work responsibilities will be your top priority.  Everyone needs to play their part in keeping our community safe, and with this in mind we are cancelling our programs scheduled for March, April and May. This includes the March Executive Colloquium, Vincent Fairfax Fellowship module, the Fairfax Lecture and the April Executive Ethics. We are in the process of contacting all registered participants to offer alternate dates later in the year.  If you have registered for a program but have not yet been contacted by us please call 03 9827 2660.

This is a fluid situation so, like many organisations, we will be evaluating this approach on a regular basis. Any other postponements or changes to programs or events will be updated here, and on our LinkedIn and Twitter pages, and registered participants contacted.

As we postpone events and programs, and while people increasingly work in isolation, we will be exploring other means of delivering content to continue to strengthen wise and courageous leadership.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Cranlana’s programs as soon as possible.

Our leaders must aspire to more than just excellence. They also need the ethical courage to make the right decisions – at the moments it matters most.

That’s the thinking that created the Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening wise and courageous leadership.

We draw on more than two millennia of philosophical thinking to foster in-depth, practical discussions that sharpen critical reasoning and strengthen moral courage. Since our formation more than 25 years ago, we’ve seen thousands of senior-level people across business, community and government benefit from our rigorous programs.

Leadership requires courage. By understanding the fundamental philosophies that underpin our society, today’s leaders can learn to critically examine the ethical impact of their actions – so they can help build a better society together.

Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership is Monash University, The Myer Foundation and Vincent Fairfax Ethics in Leadership Foundation working in partnership.

We don’t teach leadership skills. Instead, we help leaders apply the skills they already have more wisely – by building clarity of purpose and ethical courage.

Cranlana Centre's programs are a deep dive into the practice of ethical decision-making. Drawing on a rich history of philosophical wisdom, they encourage fresh and considered approaches to challenges – offering insights that, for many participants, will fundamentally transform their concept of leadership.

Our courses are dialogue-based and immersive, bringing small groups of high-level leaders together for discussions that are wide-ranging and expertly guided. By relating philosophical concepts directly to experiences and challenges you’ve encountered, participants examine and strengthen their personal ethical frameworks, giving themselves a solid footing for steering future decision-making.

Our experienced moderators draw on a deep understanding of philosophical theory, and their own distinguished careers across the private and public sectors, to facilitate discussions that are revelatory and challenging.

The programs are rigorous, in-depth and practical, providing high-level learning experiences and understanding to strengthen your capabilities as an effective and ethical leader.

Executive Ethics

Executive Ethics – a new Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership program

CEO Vanessa Pigrum, says, “We are very excited to announce the launch of our new program, Executive Ethics. The demand for Cranlana Centre’s programs is consistently high and we recognised the opportunity to design a targeted ethics program with time poor senior leaders in mind. There is no shortage of evidence pointing to the need for a deeper understanding of ethical leadership across all sectors of society, and we hope the addition of the Executive Ethics program will provide more leaders with an opportunity to refine their critical reasoning and ethical decision-making skills.”

“The Executive Ethics program has been designed to complement our existing programs, the Executive Colloquium and Vincent Fairfax Fellowship, and to provide leaders with an accessible two-day offering that still offers a rare opportunity for deep reflection and learning. The Executive Ethics program will help to build and refine the moral courage leaders require to lead for the good of the organisations they work in and society more broadly.”
