Immigration Policies from a Migrant’s Perspective

28 November, 2019

Is public discourse of migration in Australia too narrow? Border regulation, the labour market, analyses of criminal justice data and the experience of international students – it’s all inter-related and needs to be considered together to shape a healthy migration policy. In this conversation, recorded during Social Science Week 2019 – Reimagining Migration: what does the future hold for Australia?, our Lead Moderator Peter Mares chairs the discussion with Associate Professor Ly Tran – ARC Future Fellow in the Research for Education Impact Centre, Deakin University, Dr Joanna Howes – Associate Professor in Law, University of Adelaide and Associate Professor Leanne Weber – ARC Future Fellow in policy the internal borders, Criminology, Monash University and director of the border crossing observatory. Presented by Monash University. Listen here.
