Cranlana Confidential – Brendan Gale, CEO, Richmond Football Club – Wednesday 27 May

Cranlana Confidential is one of the opportunities we’re creating for our alumni to continue to draw on each other’s experience.  This online program is a series of 60 minute conversations, offering an opportunity for you to engage with a prominent alumnus from your own sector, or one you’re interested in.  Our Lead Moderator, Peter Mares, will start the session with a one-on-one interview discussing the guest’s experience of trying to lead their organisation ethically and effectively, before segueing to a group conversation.

Capped at 20 participants, and conducted under the strictest confidentiality, this is your opportunity to talk frankly with leaders in your field, and engage in in-depth, meaningful discussion with your peers.

Exclusive to Cranlana alumni, these sessions are rare chances to share experiences with professional colleagues who can act as a sounding board, feeding into your thinking and actions on important issues.

Our third Cranlana Confidential is an opportunity to discuss ethical and effective leadership with Brendon Gale, CEO of the 2019 AFL Premiers, the Richmond Football Club. As with all sports clubs, the pandemic has forced Richmond to stop playing, suspend team training, and lay off staff. How does the leadership team determine who stays and who goes? Which operations are essential, and which can be suspended? As a former star Richmond ruckman, Brendon knows that for many elite players on-field performance constitutes their life purpose and the team is an essential community. How does the club support those players when they are confined to their own corners? While playing 244 games with Richmond between 1990 and 2001, Brendon completed a law degree and practiced with Mallesons Stephen Jaques after hanging up his boots. He served on the board of the Victorian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission from 2009-2013 and is actively involved in the Male Champions of Change program.
